Candidate Training Workshops

Who Should Attend:
If you are thinking about running for public office, whether you are a first time candidate or have previously run, these training sessions will provide you with tools, strategies and mentors to mount a successful campaign.

Part One: Am I Ready to Run?
Saturday, February 20, 2016 • 9 a.m. – noon
Café on A, 438 So. A, Oxnard
Participants will take the first steps with the Running to Win Candidate Worksheet Series© and will:
• Be paired with mentors
• Review personalized obstacles and discuss how to overcome them
• Benefit from educational materials for a successful run for office

Part Two: What To Do Before You Announce
Saturday, April 2, 2016 • 8:30 a.m. – noon
Café on A, 438 So. A, Oxnard
Participants of the workshop will:
• Gain knowledge of filing and reporting requirements, budgets, staffing and outside resources
• Review essentials of outreach
• Benefit from in-depth materials on campaigning strategies, messaging, public appearances and more

NOTE: Participation in VCWPC Candidate Workshops or Mentorship Program does not imply VCWPC endorsement of your candidacy. All women running for political office in Ventura County who seek endorsement by the Ventura County Women’s Political Council may apply for endorsement consideration through the standard process.

Individuals not personally planning to run for office are welcome to attend from 9:00 – 10:00 for networking and the keynote, before session participants pair off with mentors.

Political consultant Robyn Ritter Simon will be the keynote speaker and lead mentor for both dates.
